Have you ever turned up to a 'Beginners' class only to find everyone in the room looks like an expert, and the instructor is shouting terminology you've never heard?

You are not alone. And it's not your fault.

The fitness industry has a bad habit of treating 'beginner' as just a softer version of the advanced class. Just do fewer reps. Just hold it for less time. But that completely misses the point of what a beginner actually needs.

When you start something new, you don't just lack strength or flexibility — you lack the vocabulary of the movement. You don't know what it means to "engage your deep core" or "find a neutral spine."

In my Beginners Mat Pilates classes, we stop. We explain. We break down the absolute basics. I will literally come over and show you where you should be feeling the muscle working. If you're not feeling it, we stop and adjust.

A true beginner class should feel welcoming, educational, and safe. There should be zero fear of doing it 'wrong'. My promise to you is that if you walk through my door, you will understand exactly what we are doing and why. No jargon, no judgement. Just movement that makes sense.
